Arden Point

Places We Work New York Hudson River Valley Project List

ArdenPointStatePark

Visitors entering Arden Point State Park from the Garrison train station in Philipstown, Putnam County cross the tracks to a wooded trail that meanders along the edge of the Hudson River. Eventually, the trail opens out onto a rocky promontory known as Arden Point with river views north and south, including a full view of West Point on the opposite shore.

In a partnership with the State of New York, OSI helped create Arden Point State Park through an acquisition of a 71-acre parcel in 1988.  Once part of the adjoining Highlands Country Club, the parcel included an historic cottage, now a restored residence; a barn; and a grist mill. OSI completed restoration of the mill, believed to be one of the oldest mills in Putnam County.  Along with the nearby Mandeville House, built in 1737 and used to billet soldiers during the Revolutionary War, these structures comprise a federally designated historic district.
